Expocuba
Another of the many attractions in Havana, is the Expocuba, the country´s largest exhibitor, which will, as its advertising slogan says, "help you discover Cuba."
For most of the year, it is the Republic of Cuba´s Permanent Exposition´s headquarters, in which national and foreign visitors can learn about the country´s economic, social and scientific-technical achievements. Expocuba has 25 pavilions (25 thousand square meters of net display area), and you can solicit updates on each of the country´s 15 provinces, the main branches of the national economy, as well as fundamental social programs, always through dynamic exhibitions and many methods of supporting your disposition.
Also, you can appreciate the artistic and literary values of each territory if you attend one of the frequent cultural events developed at different times by the provinces. All weekends, at the back of the Central Hall, first class musical groups preform, such as highly popular soloists who engage the crowd.
Expocuba has many interesting gastronomical offerings available, from the emblematic Don Cuba Restaurant, who specialize in seafood, pork and Italian and Creole food, to various cafes that offer refreshments, ice-creams and other light edibles, among which is the most visited, El Avión Cafe.
But if you prefer refreshing with a cold beer or cocktail, I advise you to go to the El Mirador Bar/Cafe, which is supported on a rotating base that is 42-meters high, providing beautiful panoramic views of the Expocuba and its green surroundings.
If this synthesized tour of Cuba includes children, they can have a great time at the site´s amusement park, which in addition to traditional rides, has other attractions such as bicycles and boats for the artificial lake, among others.
During October and November of very year, Expocuba changes in appearance in order to host the largest trade event on the island; and it has one of the area´s most important events, The Havana International Fair, which generates a flood of guests who come for the technological developments and commercial businesses that always present national and foreign companies.
Many visiting also take of advantage of their Expocuba excursion to go see the always fascinating National Botanical Garden, a place I will tell you about soon. As you can infer, dear reader, Expocuba has profitable and alluring proposals, with doors open from Wednesday - Sunday from 9 a.m to 5 p.m.
