"Routes and Walks for Discovering with the Family,"is a valuable model for guided tours throughout the oldest most magical part of the Cuban capital.

This program, launched by the City Historian Office 11 years ago, aims to increase the cultural knowledge of those walking around, as they discover historic passageways and Havana mysterious streets, which now have an interesting combination of modernity and tradition.

In this summer season, Routes and Walks is offering something new for those wanting to learn more about Havana heritage. From 5 July to 31 August, those interested only need to make a reservation, which costs $5 CUP per person and includes entrance to the City Museum, San Francisco de Asís Convent, José Martí Birthplace Museum, The Historic Center Model and the Colonial Art Museum.

Based on public suggestions, this year the program will enrich some of its tours by providing an interpreting service for the hearing impaired. Available routes this year address topics such as fine metal working, a collection of arms, a Havana factory, independence, science, ethnography and carpentry (as always), among others.

The walking tour includes: Walking with walkers, an Architecture walk, Visual Arts walk, and Cultural walk. Some tours will be in remote areas of the capital historical center, which show participants Cuba money origins and African origin cultures, such as curated art at the Havana intramural, among others.

In 2010, more than 15,000 people enjoyed this summer option, the Discovery Route and  Cultural Walk being the most popular. "Routes and Walks for Discovering with the Family" has been awarded third place in the Latin America Education and Museums award by the Latin American General Secretary and supported by the Latin American States Organization, the Brazilian Institute of Museums and the Spanish Agency of International Development Cooperation.

An excellent option, plus economical, this program will without a doubt enrich your trip to the city.
