The Complex’s facade
In the Municipal Capital of La Lisa there is a structure, which before 1959, was an orthopedic clinic called ONRI. Today it is one of the most important and outstanding health centers in Cuba.
The Frank País International Science Complex is a health institution dedicated to assisting patients of every age and county, to be cured of orthopedic problems, skeletal deformities, traumatisms, etc. Directed by Rodrigo Álvarez Cambras, doctor of science, this hospital center provides 15 patient rooms. There is also a tourism health service for foreign patients, for those who have hotel access to said complex, where they are able to enjoy a pleasant stay in the company of their families.
Numerous scientific events take place in this vicinity, which are sponsored by the ORTOP center and the Escuela Iberoamerica de Ortopedia y Traumatología –members of the hospital complex. Doctors, investigators, and scientists of all latitudes meet here to stimulate the development of the sciences of the human health and well-being.
Many known personalities have been treated in this hospital. Names such as Mireya Luis, Javier Sotomayor, Lázaro Vargas, Rosita Fornés, Frank Fernández, and the current president of Ecuador, Rafael Correa, have enjoyed its benefits. As the pride of the capital’s residents and all of the Cubans, it is valued as an example of development in Cuba and the vast field of medicine.
