The Cafe Fresa y Chocolate is one of the best places in Havana
Named after the formidable and award-winning film by Tomás Gutiérrez Alea, this place is considered a cultural center geared toward the night, hence it is a great place to have a beer or cocktail, as I recently discovered in one of my wanderings around the city.
The quality of service is good, the environment calm, food and spirits prices are on the average and as an additional attraction, weighing a lot, it has superb, balanced artistic programming, featuring talents in-demand by the youth.
I went to Café Fresa y Chocolate (Strawberry and Chocolate Cafe) one Sunday to enjoy a five-hour concert by the group Aceituna sin hueso, who always play on the seventh day of the week. This group has been winning over crowds with their originality and their musical combinations of national and flamenco with a touch of Andean, Arabic, and Celtic among others.
I forgot to mention their modern, digital audio and lighting equipment complementing their shows, making the scene much more pleasant. I sincerely recommend you check the place out, as I´m sure that you´ll have a great time, just like I did.
