Excellent place to drink and enjoy a good show
One of Havana´s most frequented nightclubs by night-owls in the 50´s and 60´s, Club Barbaram—which later regretted having been appointed for other functions—reopened their doors 8 January, 2011 carefully remodeled and also with its original name, Pepito´s Club, added on. Hence, Barbaram Pepito´s Club.
Frankly, I was shocked by this additional nickname which I didn´t understand. But, upon going there, I changed my mind. From all the decor, the atmosphere and furniture to the dominant red coloring, it takes us back to the formidable Cuban cartoon film, Vampiros en La Habana (Vampires in Havana), by brilliant director Juan Padrón.
This film´s main protagonist, Pepito, is a young trumpet player (Cuban to the bone) who is sensual, witty, humorous and with a unique charisma. He preformed at popular bars in the capital.
In Barbaram Pepito´s Club, there are also visual references to "Vampisol," a cocktail made for vampires which combines blood-type O+ with Añejo Especial Rum, which is one of the central themes of the movie´s conflict.
The club has excellent audio and lighting equipment, and singers and comedians in high demand on their stage. They´re located about 100 meters from the Viazul Bus Terminal, which is the main transfer for tourists visiting other Cuban provinces.
