 The Yellow Submarine

The Yellow Submarine

I´ve already talked about John Lennon living in Havana, and despite being banned here in Cuba for many years, the quartet The Beatles now has many followers, as if they were at their peak.

The cultural enterprise Artex, located very close to the John Lennon monument, is now utilizing the passion this island has for all things of the bloody band from Liverpool; they´re converting the almost forgotten Atelier club, famous in the 50´s and 60´s, as a cultural nightclub which has been dubbed the Yellow Submarine, named after the band´s emblematic and classic song (which also became an animated film).

It should be said that the design is excellent, equal to its atmosphere and decoration, which uses many submarine elements, like hatches and pipes in addition to 18 of the band´s album covers behind the bar. This spirit moving the design is the entire layout, typography and color, done in "Pop" style.

The Yellow Submarine´s artist lineup offers quality entertainment. From 2:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Tuesday through Sunday, you can enjoy unforgettable songs and audiovisuals from outstanding Cuban pop/rock groups, such as "Los Kent." And on those same days, with the national money CUP, from 9:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m., your enjoyment is guaranteed by live music.

If you want to reminisce or simply know the magic of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Ringo Starr in a Havana-style atmosphere, get to the Yellow Submarine.

Dirección: 17 Street on the corner of 6, Vedado area, Havana.
