During the late 50´s in Havana, a restaurant specializing in Italian cuisine had just opened. And despite the culinary globalization occurring during that time, today, there are still countless restaurants with the same profile in Havana, be them state-owned or private.

The Don Giovanni Restaurant ranked highly when international tourism began in the 90´s, and pays homage to Italian Giovanni Bautista Antonelli, the military engineer who designed and built celebrated structures such as the Tres Reyes del Morro and the San Salvador de La Punta Castles.

Their menu has pizzas, cannelloni, lasagna, creams and pastas representing various Italian regions, with prices starting at $3.00 CUC. They also have national Cuban and international dishes, based on beef, pork, fish, seafood and chicken. These dishes´ prices begin at $3.50 CUC. Of course, Don Giovanni´s pizzas are like those of Italy, with a thin crust, properly toasted; they are not like the exuberant "Cuban pizzas," (look them up on Google, you´ll be surprised), which many of us on the island love, but that´s for another article.

Guests can enjoy lunch or dinner in a well air-conditioned restaurant that has a capacity of around 100 people, or on their terrace in the lovely "open air." Their service is fast, professional and very friendly. The restaurant also has an excellent location, just meters from Havana´s Cathedral Plaza, close to the harbor and where tourist transfers converge.
