
The Tocororo: Enjoy the taste buds
El Tocororo Restaurant is an appealing option amidst Havana´s wide range of restaurants. Open every day except Monday, lunch is served from 1:00 - 4:00 in the afternoon, and dinner from 8:00 p.m. to midnight.
One can combine a variety of salads, soups, creams, rice, appetizing meats, chicken, and seafood with one of their homemade desserts such as coconut flan or raisin and guava peel pudding. Exquisite to the palate.
Their menu is abundant with dishes such as black beans, stuffed plantains, fried taro and delicious tamales, and you can´t overlook their Creole dishes, pork leg roasted in juices, colored beans and rice and moros y cristianos. Their highlights: the sucu sucu (stewed beef, white rice, black beans and yuca with mojo sauce), the fisherman´s tray (spicy shrimp, white rice and fried green plantains) and the house specialty, the Tocororo lobster in a prawn and clam sauce, to delight the most discerning palates.
At tabletop height, one can smell the aromatic Cuban tobacco smoke accompanied by a cup of fragrant coffee.
In addition to their culinary offerings, the establishment´s bar serves typical and national cocktails, the daiquiri and mojito standing out, which go well with snacks such as banana chips, stuffed potatoes and their tasty Creole croutons. With Cuban music, performances, the atmosphere is intimate and welcoming. Every Wednesday, the bar holds the Pernod Ricard party, where they serve excellent international cocktails made with quality brands. They also hold bar tending competitions, participatory games and give out prizes. El Tocororo also has a lounge specializing in Japanese food called Sakura, a choice with unthinkable flavors of the Far East.
