Distinguishing all of the city´s the most significant buildings and areas in a single glance, the "Maqueta de La Habana," the Havana Model is a commendable project that launched as a main attraction for national and foreign visitors, who venture to know this place.
It fully and accurately reproduces the areas of Old Havana, Central Havana, Cerro, Revolution Plaza, Playa, 10 October, Regia and has partial views of Eastern Havana, Guanabacoa, Boyeros and Marianao. I should say that the the scale is 1:1,000 (1 meter is equal to 1 kilometer) is the best for accurately reproducing the architectural and urban features on a smaller scale.
This gigantic model is located in a room that totals 900 square meters in area, and can be observed from all possible points, even from higher levels, either simply with the naked eye or using optical methods such as theodolites.
There´s something magical about this Havana Model…whenever I visit, I always go back childhood, toys, carts, dolls, airplanes, houses; those realistic reductions take me to that world of little things, coveted and cheerful. Without a doubt, a one-of-a-kind experience that perhaps you would like to personally experience, which you can Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Admission prices differentiate between Cuban Pesos (CUP) for nationals and CUC for foreigners, at a cost of $3 CUC general admission and $1 CUC for students and children under 12. Prices for nationals are $3 CUP for adults, while students and children under 12 is only $1 CUP. A guide is extra, as is a theodolite; but either with a tour, a theodolite, or just a glance, this model—the second largest in the world, surpassing the New York City panorama—is going to surprise you.
