Casa Verano Palco's

Casa Verano Palco's

This bar, recently opened in Playa, seeks to be a hotspot for live music in Havana. So far, they've been successful.

Tania Pantoja, whom I've written about before, now performs every Friday, from 7-12PM, at the Casa Verano Palco; the show is very suggestively titled LAS TARDES INFIELES (UNFAITHFUL EVENINGS). The cover charge is also very accessible: $ 100.00 Cuban pesos (CUP).

Every Saturday, also from 7-12PM, you can see the group Jaleo and DJ Leo. There are two great options here for the public: the first 20 women inside get in free, and the cover is only $ 50.00 Cuban pesos (CUP).

These nights at the Casa Verano Palco always have a lot of support from the Cuban public, who go to see great live music, for the cheap cover charge, the good vibe at the club, and the friendly service.  lastly, there is a good variety of liquor to enjoy while listening to the music.

Address: Calle 18 between 41 and 43, Miramar, Playa.

Castillo El Morro

Castillo El Morro

History tells us that it was one of the main defense systems in Havana in the past; in the middle of the 16th century it had become a valuable point of observation, and beginning in 1563 a tower was built for the ships in transit.

Chinatown

Chinatown

Several readers have asked me to expand on the different neighborhoods in Havana, which I mention in nearly every article.

Without going too far into it, I’ll say that a neighborhood can be identified by economic, social, or topographical factors, and which engenders in its residents a strong sens of community and of belonging.
