Every time I go to Old Havana, I pass by this well located restaurant. Positioned on the strategic intersection of Obispo and Oficios Streets, one of Plaza de Armas´ four vertices, La Mina is one of the capital´s best representations of national cuisine and typical Creole dishes such as "la vaca frita a la campesina," ("farm fried beef") the essentials (for us) black beans and white rice, the priceless roasted pork and the tasty tamales. That´s without mentioning the desserts, which are a delight.

East of Havana, there is a quaint little town nestled in an area that was originally for fishermen, and where many people still live today. In this town, which holds records of all kinds, one can find the Las Terrazas de Cojímar, a highly recommended restaurant, especially if you love fish and seafood.
Initially a warehouse, the retail outlet opened on 20 May, 1925, 86 years ago. It later became an inn for visitors and fishermen, until the new owner, Salvador Blanco, made it more or less what it is today.

Maybe it´s some influential ancestral gene originating in the Arabic region, but the truth is, out of all the cuisines within my reach, Arabic is among my favorite. The harmonious combination that´s achieved when using Mediterranean cuisine with Hindu-style seasonings simply results formidably, even for the most rigorous palate.

The Amelia Café is located inside the Miramar Trade Center in Havana´s Playa area. It´s a pleasant place, especially designed to drink a coffee or eat a pizza with friends and family, after a day of shopping or business.
