A poster of the play Salomé o la Candela.
The Bertolt Brecht Café Theater are presenting an interesting and suggestive monologue, in a tragicomedy tone. The work is by the playwright, director and actress Eva González. It´s a piece dedicated to women, their existential conflicts, their fantasies and also indifferences: Salomé or ¡la Candela!
Dramatically scenic, the author/actress establishes analogies and differences with the Biblical Salome, categorized by his negativity, giving him authenticity, rigor and empathy.
As a spectator, above all, I appreciated Eva González´s historical quality and the motivating resources used in the soundtrack, scenery, lights and costumes, which enriched and substantially complemented the noteworthy production.
The play´s tragedy is very contemporary, refining the aspects of today´s youth who are unmotivated, alienated, of unbridled hedonism and humor…such an unappreciated human resource that saves so many misfortunes from happening. Humor is ever present in Candela´s soliloquy, a strong character who Eva Gonzales gives life.
Salomé o ¡la Candela! runs every Monday in March at 7:00 p.m. at the Bertolt Brecht Café Theater. I am positive you´ll enjoy it!
