Gerardo Fulleda Leon has lead the company since 1988, and he has placed his stamp on the company at its home at the Sala El Sotano.

The Company has performed plays by such as writers as Pirandello, Agatha Christie, Valle Inclan and Shakespeare; they also perform works by Cuban playwrights such as Eugenio Hernandez Espinosa, Alberto Pedro, Virgilio Pinera, Carlos Felipe, Jose R. Brene, Abelardo Estorino, Leonardo Padura, and of course, the company's own Fulleda Leon.
The troupe usually keeps "La querida de Enramada", by Fulleda Leon, or "Mi socio Manolo", by Eugenio Hernandez Espinosa in its repertoire. The former is a timeless play, while the latter is a ver contemporary piece, about a reunion between two old friends. Gerardo Fulleda León as a playwright is known for plays like comma "Placido", "La querida de Enramada", and "Chago de Guisa". The latter received the Teatro de Casa de las Americas Award in 1989.
