Anais Abreu
Our island has produced many grand singers, internationally known: Olga Guillot, Blanca Rosa Gil, Elena Burke, Moraima Secada, Omara Portuondo…and among the younger successors standing out, the modern diva Anaís Abreu.
She has her own style, although you´ll note, she takes from other sources which interpretively enrich her, equally dominating the various facets of traditional music and contemporary song. Her versatility allows her to perform ballads, popular songs and clearly jazzy songs with professionalism.
Anaís has a solid professional background and experience, which enabled her to successfully start her career as a soloist at just 25. Her artistic resumé includes numerous awards and performances in Chile, Argentina, France, Hungary, Czechoslovakia and Italy, month other countries.
For this star´s fans and those who´d like to get to know her, you have an excellent opportunity, as the last Saturday of every month at Old Havana´s Casa de la Cultura (The Cultural House) will host Anaís Abreu´s folk club starting at 4 p.m.
