Concerts, jam sessions, workshops, conferences and competitions are the main attractions of the latest edition of Jojazz 2011, which will be realized in Havana from 24 to 27th November and where young Cuban and also foreign musicians show that their are not only excellent performers of multiple jazz styles, but also make incursions with lots of potential, energy and youthful imagination into their own Jazzconcepts.

It's impressive of what artistic persistence the performances are of these those young Cuban music students of intermediate and advanced levels, playing in different categories of solo artists from 16 to 20 years and solo artists from 21 to 30 years. They convince the judges with virtuosity, technical command and incredible ability to improvise, which is so necessary in Jazz.

The young foreigners that have participated in the festival since 1998 also show exceptional abilities. Especially North Americans, Canadians, Italians and Colombians have brought new colors and visions to the Jazz event.

It's necessary to underline that in JoJazz not only participate young musicians, as in the workshops and conferences as well as during the informal exchanges (not less important) I've seen personalities of music in general and Jazz in particular who are sharing their experiences and also learning from the most recent Jazz generation.

The upcoming edition of the JoJazz has a, in my opinion, very positive particularity: It's dedicated to the great maestros of Cuban Jazz of all times, such as Chano Pozo, Mario Bauzá, Chico O' Farrill, Chucho Valdés, Orlando Cachito López, Paquito D' Rivera, among others important personalities of the genre.

As a Jazz lover, I have not missed out on any of those events and I was able to witness that this genre has a future in Cuba as well as many yet to discover talents and a growing number of supporters.
