"El Diablo Tun Tun", piano bar and pub
This establishment is part of the Casa de la Musica in Miramar, on the top floor and accesible by a steep ladder. It’s a great place to grab a drink, listen to live music and dance (as long as the place isn’t packed with people). There are also local DJs who sometimes spin here, and they’re always appreciated by local and international visitors.
There are two performances every day: one in the late afternoon, and one at night that goes until 3 AM. The acts are definitely varied, and are announced with little advance notice. But since the performers here tend to be first-rate, the folks who run Piano Bar El Diablo Tun Tun must intuitively know they’ll attract people. Several radio stations in Havana announce their lineup on a daily basis. For example, the first week of April, from Thursday to Sunday, groups like NG La Banda, Joe Joel, Angel Bonne and To' Mezclao performed.
A friend of hime who’s a foreigner living in Havana told me recently that when he feels like partying, who goes to the matinee at Casa de la Musica de Miramar, where the party eventually lasts into the night, and he then heads over to the Diablo Tun Tun, where the atmosphere is still fun, but a little more relaxed.
The bar at the Diablo Tun Tun tends more towards beer, from Cuba and broad, and light and dark rums that are pretty affordable. I confess that I’ve had some fun nights at El Diablo Tun Tun, so I wholeheartedly recommend this place, which is not as widely known as some others in Havana, but is very much worth visiting.
