If you like seeing good, live music while enjoying great food, head on over to El Cortijo, part of the Hotel Vedado, on Calle 25, on the corner of O street, in Vedado.
Appetizers range from shrimp cocktail to soups and salads. Main dishes include grilled pork strips, chicken and garlic lobster. El Cortijo also has pizza and pasta.
And now for El Cortijo’s musical offerings: both Cuban and international acts pass through here, whether they’re soloists, duos, trios, quartets, instrumentalists, always accompanied by dancers. The show is called "Mis horas contigo" (My hours with you) on stage every Friday at 9:00 PM, with a small cover charge.
The current starring act is Yudith Collazo. Saturday nights are Pop Night at 9:00 PM, with the show at 10:30 PM). On Saturdays you can hear the group Gitano, as well as the singers Isis Flores, Dayani Lozano and Yoli, Preval and Patricio Amaro. There’s always a top comedian, whether it’s Lazaro El Flaco or Jorge Diaz, all under the direction of the TV programming director Gloria Torres.
El Cortijo has a central location, with a nice ambience and a good mix of foreigners and Cubans. They come to enjoy the affordable food and the well-known acts.
