Tania Pantoja
Slowly but surely, Tania Pantoja has been making her way up the ranks of Cuban singers. Some are already calling her La Diva, and others call her the Pantoja of Cuba, in reference to the famous Spanish Singer Isabel Pantoja.
Though she leads the Bamboleo Orchestra, for the last few years she has been working on a solo career. She has what’s known as “Angel”- a one word summary of star power.
She’s known for her personality, distinction, strength, magnetism, and her wide musical range.
Not all popular singers have the talent to improvise son cubano on stage, but Tania’s got the talent, with a little gracefulness added in for good measure. She also adds a few light dance steps to her routines- nothing fancy, just enough to complement the song she’s performing.
Tania Pantoja holds a unique record: when it was announced that she would be performing a solo concert at the Karl Marx Theater to promote "Di qué piensas", the show sold out in 3 hours (all 5,000 available tickets) and MANY people went home disappointed that couldn’t get there in time to nab a ticket.
At the Casa del Habano in Miramar, at the intersection of 5th Avenue with 16th, in Playa, Tania Pantoja performs every Thursday at 10pm in an exclusive engagement with invited artists. This is a one of a kind opportunity for live music in Havana.
I don’t think I’m going out on a limb when I say that this young singer has a promising future ahead of her. She has touched the hearts of the people on this island, the Island of Music.
