Alexander Abreu and Havana D' Primera, among the most Cuban public taste
A group setting new standards within the Cuban music scene, without a doubt, is Habana D´primera. If you had been at the 2009 Peace Without Borders Concert, you may have wondered, "Who is that chubby trumpeter?" (The guy who accompanied more than one of many great artists preforming there such as Olga Tañon, to name just one.) Well, it was Alexander Abreu, who is listed as one of the best trumpeters of his generation.
Habana D´primera´s Alexander Abreu (trumpet, lead vocals, composer, arranger and musical director) has managed to assemble a group defined by versatility, either by playing dance music or accompanying soloists, which largely results from the musicians´ excellence. In just one year, they are already hugely popular among the Cuban public, as well as abroad.
The key to their success, according to many experts, is in their closeness, characterized by brotherhood and daily professionalism, which has allowed them to lavish in Cuba´s most demanding and genuine music culture.
