Emiliano Zapata Park

Emiliano Zapata Park

In the center of the capital´s Playa area, next to Fifth Avenue, there is a park dedicated to the famous Mexican patriot, Emiliano Zapata. Despite being named in his honor, the park is best known by Havanians as the jagüeyes park due to the large amount of this tree species growing there, and which according to botanists are Antilla natives.

Many people have come to be photographed next to these natural wonders of rare majesty, truly a vegetational wonder. Of course there are also those who come to rest, take a break from the road, or like me, use its dense shade to get away from the heat. During the day, it´s a refuge to many passers-by, and a discrete meeting place for lovers as the night takes over Havana.

An excellent natural attraction, hence agencies such as CUBATUR include it as a stop in one of their guided tours of the capital, which also includes a visit to the Havana Model, the Metropolitan Park and Columbus´s Necropolis, among others.

Without a doubt, the Emiliano Zapata Park is a demonstration of nature´s wisdom and worth a visit.

Address: Fifth Avenue, between 24th and 26th Street, the Playa area, Havana.
