Cabaret Turquino

The highest peak in Havana is called Pico Turquino and is part of the Sierra Maestra mountain range, in the southwest corner of the island. This is why the summit of Cuban cabaret is called the Cabaret Turquino. It is located on the top floor of one of the tallest buildings in the city: the Hotel Habana Libre Tryp. The views are spectacular.

You can hear music groups of all kinds here- salsa, fusion groups, or typical Cuban groups- and the music goes till 3:00a.m.

The best Cuban music is played live every night, and while there you can order from an extensive cocktail list and selection of Cuban cigars. There is a detachable roof that allows to take in the full night sky while dancing, too.

It is rumored that the following people have visited the Turquino, since they stayed at the hotel: Elizabeth Taylor, Sara Montiel, Terry Moore, Arturo Córdova, Mario Moreno, Cantinflas, and the Italian actress Silvana Pampanini.

The Turquino has also been home to many of the opening and closing night parties of the International Festival of Latin American Cinema and the International Jazz Festival. The Hotel Habana Libre Tryp is on Calle L at 23rd, in the Vedado.
