Rio Club
This nightclub opened in the mid-50's, and although it has had different names over the years, but the name Rio Club stock (Rio from the club's location near the mouth of the Almendares rivera, which runs through Havana). In the 50's, the club was frequented by the jet set of the time, and since ten the building has housed different businesses.
With Cuba's opening up to international tourism in the mid 90's, many shuttered nightclubs were re-opened, including the Rio Club. During the weekends, the place is packed. It's a first class place, where you can dance, drink and enjoy a good time.
There is a small cover charge, though it's worth it. Usually, the DJs spin at the Rio, and there is a great audio video setup for the music. Groups that play danceable music play here, and their shows are usually great due to the superior sound and lighting equipment.
The Rio Club is located at 3rd St. and A, in Miramar, Playa.
