Salón Rojo at Capri Hotel, Havana City, Cuba
What once was one of the capital´s casinos, the Hotel Capri which was inaugurated in 1957 became the Salòn Rojo in 1961.
Due to its place as a casino it has of course been linked with the gambling and mafia influenced days of the 1950´s. With large investments by the mafia in the tourism and hotel complexes in an attempt to convert Havana into a tourist center to compete with Las Vegas, there was an attractive offering of rooms, cabaret shows and of course gambling.
While the U.S. company Shepard managed the hotel, another company called the Capri Casino took over operations of the casino operations.
The Salón Rojo is located near the Hotel Nacional and the Havana Ramp on the corner of North and 21st in Vedado and is part of a special traditional and definitively worth a visit on your next trip to Havana.
There you can always enjoy a new show that are always respectful of the traditions and offer excellent culinary options.
