Havana Cub Rum Museum, Havana, Cuba.
What better place to sample the country’s most famous drink than the bar at the Museum dedicated to rum and of course the Havana Club brand.
Near the waterfront in old Havana, specifically on the corner of Avenida del Puerto and calle Sol the museum is housed in a 18th century colonial mansion that was the property of the Count of La Mortera. Over the years this building has housed a variety of companies, organizations and government institutions.
The museum has a spectacular bar that dates back to the first Bar Habana Club founded in 1934 which was one of the premier locations of the 1930’s do sample a diverse array of cocktails and of course the remarkable hospitality of the staff. In the bar one can hear the traditional Cuban music, while sipping on the spectacular rum concoctions.
This is a place for musicians, artists, and of course visitors to congregate and enjoy the environment. One example is a house drink, the Guarabana, a savory mix of guarapo (sugar cane juice), orange juice and the ron anejo blanco Habana Club. Of course what visit would be complete without a Mojito or the Cuba Libre.
The writer Alejo Carpentier wrote that Havana was the city with the greatest variety of drinks available anywhere in the world for a curious traveler. By some accounts there are around 450 drink mixtures, and we suggest that you ask one of the friendly bartenders and they will set you up with any number of selections.
At night the Habana Club museum opense its doors to art, concerts, music and other cultural events. You are invited to stop by and discover an important part of the Cuban culture from the perspective of Habana Club.
