El Conejito Restaurant
In the heart of El Vedado, you'll find an establishment that's been open since 1966, with a look that stands out- like an English inn circa the 17th century. This is where the rather ambitious nickname of Cuba's English Pub comes from.
When it opened it was quite popular, I think due to its unique look, and also for being one of the only places in Havana where you could find rabbit on the menu- a tender, delicious meat, here prepared in a variety of ways. Of course, the menu has also been broadened to include more than just the bunny.
On the menu, under the Chef's Suggestions, you'll see the rabbit in three different dishes: Financial Rabbit, grilled rabbit, or cooked in red wine. Prices range from 8.20 to 9 CUC. You can also find Hunter's Rabbit, rabbit with garlic sauce, with meat sauce, aioli sauce, a la mode, and more!
El Conejito also makes fried chicken and Chicken Cordon Bleu, as well as pork chops, filet mignon, and strip steak, all between 9 and 10 CUC. There are also fish dishes, shrimp, and lobster prepared in a variety of ways at 25 CUC.
There is seating for 100, a bar, a piano bar, and private dining rooms.
Address: M Street, between 17th and 19th, Vedado Phone: (537) 8324671
