Mesón de la Flota

Mesón de la Flota

The present and past of this city are inexorably linked to the sea; this is simply how it has always been, and how it will be for the foreseeable future.

The Meson de la Flota maintains maritime traditions with its architecture, decor, and atmosphere. It contains to be a functioning inn, as well as a restaurant and bar that often plays flamenco tunes in the background. Many people have mistakenly thought that the Meson was simply a restaurant/bar with beds, although the restaurant simply occupies the first floor. Here you can find some of the best "Spanish tapas" in Havana, always a welcome treat when one is enjoying a drink. In addition to tapas, there are many other hot and cold appetizers to choose from.

The star of the menu is called the "Drunken Lobster with Fruits of the Caribbean", with the lobster tail sitting on the edge of the plate as a flourish. The dish contains butter, onion and garlic, orange juice, and cubed pineapple and papaya.  Besides the previously mentioned dish, there are fish and meat dishes, along with Cuban and Spanish desserts, all at a decent prices. I'd like to recommend the wine list, as well as going to the Meson de la Flota when there are live flamenco performances.

Address: Calle Mercaderes # 257, Old Havana, Havana.
