Cuba Havana Night Club Monseigneur Bar Coaster 1950s
This is without a doubt one of Havana's most famous restaurants, for its international cuisine, its refinement, and for having been home to many performances by Ignacio Villa, Bola de Nieve.
At the intersection of Calle 21 and O, facing the Hotel Nacional de Cuba, the Monseigneur, open from noon to 6pm, offers several lunch options. Five different set menus are available, all for $5CUC.
The first is a beef fillet, with white rice, French fries, side salad, dessert of the day and a drink; the second offers the same sides, but with breaded fish as a main course.
The third set menu is possibly the best: three main course options (chicken, pork chops or grilled pork loin), rice and black beans, fried veggies, side salad, dessert of the day and a drink. The fourth offers the same sides, but with grilled pork loin. The last of the five set menus is grilled fish filet, fried veggies, side salad, dessert of the day and a drink.
This sort of set menu is in vogue in Havana; the Monseigneur also has a small cafeteria, where drinks, ice cream and light refreshments are sold. If you go in the evening, the restaurant is a changed place, with candelabras and mood lighting. A pianist plays in the corner, named Nelson Camacho, reminiscent of the days of old with Bola de Nieve.
